Seoul Yongsan War Memorial Restaurant “Jinsim”

The War Memorial in Yongsan, Seoul, serves as both a museum and a memorial space dedicated to the history of wars involving Korea. Outdoors, various statues and war weapons are displayed, including the Chamsuri patrol boat from the Battle of Yeonpyeong, which honors the soldiers who died in that battle.

Indoors, the museum showcases the history of wars from the Three Kingdoms period to modern warfare, making it a must-visit for students studying war history and those interested in military history.

“Visit to the War Memorial with U.S. State Department Scholars”

The War Memorial is a frequent destination for international students visiting Korea. In 2023, students from HKCT in Hong Kong visited the War Memorial during their trip to Seoul.

This time, I visited the War Memorial with scholars dispatched by the U.S. State Department. We timed our visit to coincide with a scheduled tour, and after the guided tour, we had some free time. When it was time for lunch, we went to the restaurant operated by the War Memorial as a group.

“Restaurant at Yongsan War Memorial, Jinsim”

The War Memorial operates a restaurant located on the west side of the main building. You can find a small souvenir shop on the west side, and the restaurant is opposite this shop.

The restaurant, named “Jinsim,” offers both Korean and Western cuisine. We ordered a variety of dishes, including Korean food, pasta, and pork cutlet, allowing everyone to enjoy their preferred meal.

“A Well-Maintained Restaurant”

The restaurant was well-maintained and spacious, making it an excellent place for group visits. For Korean meals, you receive a basic set menu, and additional side dishes are available buffet-style, allowing you to serve yourself as much as you like.

The cost is around 8,000 KRW per person, making it an affordable dining option.

This restaurant is particularly suitable for large groups needing to dine together.
