Located west of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seochon Village offers a distinct atmosphere compared to the nearby Bukchon Hanok Village. It is a notable destination in Seoul where traditional charm and modern influences coexist harmoniously.
In Seochon Village, you can find the “Sejong Cultural Food Street,” where a variety of restaurants are clustered. Getting there is simple. Exit from Exit 2 of Gyeongbokgung Station on Subway Line 3, head north a bit, and you’ll find a narrow alley running horizontally. This is the “Sejong Cultural Food Street.”
Here, you can observe various restaurants lining the narrow alleys. From restaurants suitable for company dinners to well-known establishments, and even budget-friendly options, you’ll encounter a diverse range of dining choices.
“Sejong Cultural Food Street: Chebudong Banquet House”
One of the places I visited is a restaurant named “Chebudong Banquet House.” The atmosphere at Chebudong Banquet House exudes a sense of rich history. While it may seem humble from the outside, it is a restaurant that has preserved and cherished its long-standing history, visited by numerous people.
The restaurant offers a variety of Korean dishes. It is particularly known for its excellent value for money. The most affordable Banquet Noodles (Janchi Guksu) costs only 4,000 KRW per bowl. Even when ordering the standard size, the portion is quite generous. If you want even more, you can opt for the “large” size, which is still reasonably priced at just 5,000 KRW.
For reference, a few years ago, a bowl of Banquet Noodles was priced at 3,000 KRW, and the large size was 4,000 KRW.
In addition to Banquet Noodles, they offer various other dishes, including Bibim Noodles, Kalguksu, Handmade Noodles, and more.

“A Restaurant with an Elegant Atmosphere”
Chebudong Banquet House exudes an elegant atmosphere, evident even from its exterior. Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll experience an even greater sense of elegance. The walls of the establishment are filled with inscriptions left by famous visitors and regular patrons, many of which are written in Chinese characters, adding to the sense of refined ambiance.
With its charming atmosphere, enjoying traditional dishes like Jeon (pancakes), Kalguksu, and Handmade Noodles in this restaurant allows for a nostalgic experience.
“Leek Pancake: 10,000 KRW, Large Banquet Noodles: 5,000 KRW”
During our visit, the two of us ordered a Leek Pancake to share, along with individual orders of menu items. Nowadays, it’s not easy to find restaurants that serve dishes like Leek Pancakes or Potato Pancakes, but Chebudong Banquet House offers them at a reasonable price, which we appreciated.
The portion of the Large Banquet Noodles was surprisingly generous given its affordable price. Thanks to this, we were able to enjoy a hearty meal.
This restaurant, where you can enjoy a variety of Korean dishes at a reasonable price, is a great place to visit when you want to satisfy your appetite affordably. While it may not be the ideal choice for elegant occasions, it’s a wonderful spot for casual visits.
