Banks are transforming into more friendly spaces by incorporating characters. KB Kookmin Bank used to create cafe-like spaces in some branches under the name ‘Rockstar.’ Although most of these ‘KB Kookmin Bank Rockstar branches’ have disappeared, it reflects an attempt that has been ongoing for some time.
Similar initiatives can be observed in Seoul’s Myeongdong. This time, Shinhan Bank has ventured into the cafe scene, not by turning the bank into a cafe-like space, but by operating an actual cafe.
“Seoul Myeongdong Shinhan Bank Cafe, Sweet Sol (Cafe with Sol)”
In the bustling streets of Myeongdong, filled with foreign tourists, you can find a cafe operated by Shinhan Bank. Known as ‘Sweet Sol’ in Korean and ‘Cafe with Sol’ in English, this cafe is situated right under the Shinhan Bank brand.
Upon entering, you’ll discover a cafe spread across the first floor, fairly spacious considering the prime location in Myeongdong, known for its high land value. Operating such a sizable establishment on the first floor seems to incur considerable maintenance costs, given the well-known expensive real estate in Myeongdong.
“A Cafe Featuring Various Characters of Shinhan Bank”
Given that it’s a cafe operated by Shinhan Bank, you can find various characters of Shinhan Bank scattered throughout the cafe. This makes it a great spot for visitors to capture commemorative photos. Even if you’re not interested in taking photos, it’s a good place to spend time as if you were at any other cafe.
Moreover, on one side, there is an exhibition of various goods featuring Shinhan Bank’s characters. Visitors can purchase these goods if they wish, and there’s also the option to buy them using a kiosk.
“Reasonable Coffee Prices”
The prices are relatively reasonable, comparable to Starbucks. It’s a straightforward place to enjoy without breaking the bank.
A unique cafe in the Myeongdong area of Seoul, offering a special experience with various Shinhan Bank character goods.
