“Seoul Gwanghwamun, Cod Soup Restaurant, Mukyowon Original Cod Soup”
“Mukyowon Original Cod Soup” is also one of the restaurants located in such underground malls. It’s a place where you can easily have a meal during lunchtime and can likewise be found in the underground area of a building.
As the name suggests, Mukyowon Original Cod Soup is a restaurant known for its “cod soup.” It has been featured on various broadcasts and has been visited by former President Lee Myung-bak, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and actor Cho In-sung.
“Cod Soup – 12,000 KRW”
On this visit, we ordered the flagship menu item, the cod soup, at “Mukyowon Original Cod Soup.” The price of a bowl of cod soup has increased significantly due to the impact of inflation, now priced at 12,000 KRW.
When you order the cod soup, basic side dishes are served first, followed by the clear cod soup. You can choose to have a slightly spicy version or a version with a clear broth. This time, we ordered the version with the clear broth. Thanks to this, we were able to have a comfortable meal.
The cod soup contains a large piece of cod, which blends well with the clear, refreshing broth. The radish is not overly soft or tough, providing a good balance to enjoy with the cod. However, it feels like there’s not as much cod included, which is a bit disappointing. There are about two pieces of cod meat, and the cod is cooked just right, offering a slight resilience rather than a mushy texture. It pairs nicely with the chili pepper soy sauce provided.
Overall, it’s a place where you can taste a refreshing bowl of cod soup. It’s a convenient spot for a simple meal during lunchtime.
