The Gwanghwamun area in Seoul is a representative office-dense area. It houses various government offices including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, as well as headquarters of several newspapers and buildings of major corporations. During lunchtime, you can often see numerous office workers coming out to have their meals.
Especially in the underground shopping malls of large buildings, you can find a variety of restaurants. In the underground mall of Daewoo Plaza Building, you can find several eateries clustered together.
“Daewoo Plaza Building Underground Dining, Jangho Jjallajip”
The restaurant I visited this time, called Jangho Jjallajip, is one of the places you can find here. It’s located in the underground of the building, and during lunch hours, you can see many office workers queuing up for their meals.
“A Restaurant Offering Lunch Menus, Jangho Jjallajip”
I visited this place wondering what to eat nearby. Their main dish is kimchi stew, but during lunch hours, they also offer various side dishes in addition to kimchi stew.
Thanks to this, it can be a good option for office workers who need to have lunch every day. While the main dish remains constant, the side dishes change slightly every day, so even if you visit the same restaurant multiple times, it doesn’t feel monotonous.
“Jjallajip: Served by Cutting Beef Innards”
The name “Jjallajip” comes from the fact that it serves by cutting beef innards. Although it may seem a bit intimidating to eat based on appearance, it’s said to be one of the popular items.
During this visit, I simply came to have lunch, so I ordered the kimchi stew offered on the lunch menu.
It’s a good place to have a simple meal, especially during lunch hours when you can find many office workers. Additionally, you can use the self-service bar provided in the restaurant to refill various side dishes and taste them. The types of side dishes change slightly every day according to the menu for that day.
It’s a great place for office workers near Gwanghwamun to have lunch, especially on days when you’re craving kimchi stew.
