In the Osaka region, there are several particularly famous foods, and among them, “Okonomiyaki” and “Takoyaki” stand out as must-try dishes in the Dotonbori area.
During this trip, I had the chance to enjoy Takoyaki in the Shinsekai area, but it was only on the last day of the journey that I discovered I hadn’t tried Okonomiyaki yet.
“Chibo”: Okonomiyaki Specialty Restaurant in the Namba Area
After having a simple meal at Kuromon Ichiba Market, I decided that my last meal of this trip should be “Okonomiyaki.” Upon searching for a decent Okonomiyaki restaurant nearby, I came across “Chibo.” Fortunately, as I visited earlier than the usual lunch hours, I didn’t have to wait in a long line, and I could easily get a table.
Two Chibo Locations in the Namba Area
Chibo has two locations in the Namba area. One is situated in Dotonbori, and the other is relatively to the south, close to Namba Station. I chose to visit the location closer to Namba Station.
Diverse Okonomiyaki Selection at Chibo
Chibo offers a variety of Okonomiyaki, and you can order your preferred menu by looking at the menu board. As a first-timer, I opted for the “Dotonbori Okonomiyaki” since Dotonbori is one of the first places that come to mind when thinking of Osaka.
When I ordered Okonomiyaki, they provided an entertaining spectacle of preparing the food right in front of me. Watching the chef cook the dish on the spot added an interesting touch to the experience.
Thus, concluding the last meal of this trip, I began preparing to wrap up the journey slowly.
