The area around Gwanghwamun in Seoul is a representative densely populated office district. During lunchtime, you can see numerous office workers in this area. To meet the demand of these office workers, you can find various restaurants in the underground shopping arcades of major buildings.
In the underground shopping arcade of Doryeom Building, which is located west of Gwanghwamun Square, you can especially find a variety of restaurants.
“Ok’s Knife-Cut Noodles” is also one of the restaurants you can find in the underground shopping arcade of Doryeom Building. As you can infer from the name of the establishment, their main menu item is “knife-cut noodles.”
There are two main options on the menu: “Anchovy Knife-Cut Noodles” and “Clam Knife-Cut Noodles,” priced at 8,000 won and 9,000 won respectively. They also offer other menu items apart from knife-cut noodles:
- Anchovy Knife-Cut Noodles: 8,000 won
- Clam Knife-Cut Noodles: 9,000 won
- Spicy Stir-Fried Pork: 9,000 won
- Spicy Fire Pork: 10,000 won
- Pork Kimchi Stew: 8,000 won
- Soybean Paste Stew: 8,000 won
- Beef Brisket Soybean Paste Stew: 9,000 won
Although it’s not listed on the menu, if you need a substantial amount of food, you can order the “Additional Serving” option. If you order an additional serving, it will cost an extra 2,000 won, and you’ll receive a significantly larger portion compared to the regular menu.
“Clam Knife-Cut Noodles with Additional Serving: 11,000 won”
The dish I ordered that day was “Clam Knife-Cut Noodles with Additional Serving.” Ordering in the regular size costs 9,000 won, and with an additional serving, it comes to 11,000 won. Generally, even when you order the regular size, the portion is quite generous, so there might not be a need to specifically request an “additional serving.” However, personally, being someone who enjoys a hearty meal, I went ahead and ordered with an additional serving.
When you order the knife-cut noodles, you’ll receive a simple set consisting of knife-cut noodles, kimchi, and steamed egg. The combination of knife-cut noodles and kimchi is a perfect match. Just having the knife-cut noodles alone might be a bit plain, but the accompanying kimchi adds a nice touch.
“A Small Restaurant”
Ok’s Knife-Cut Noodles is a small restaurant located in the underground shopping arcade of Doryeom Building. It’s on the smaller side, with only about five tables. Therefore, it may not be very suitable for accommodating a large number of guests at once.
However, due to its convenient location in the underground shopping arcade of Doryeom Building and its offering of uncomplicated menu items like knife-cut noodles, it’s a great place to visit on days when you want a simple meal.
