Dooly the Little Dinosaur is a representative comic in South Korea, created by author Kim Soo-jung. It enjoyed nationwide popularity for decades, transcending age and gender boundaries.
The series began in 1983 and was serialized as a comic until 1993. It was later adapted into an animated series, becoming a familiar childhood memory for those born in the 70s to 90s.

Dooly the Little Dinosaur is set in Ssangmun-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul. The story revolves around Dooly, a baby dinosaur frozen in the ice age who suddenly appears in the modest home of the commoner, Go Gil-dong, residing in Ssangmun-dong. The comic humorously depicts their daily lives alongside Go Gil-dong.
“Visit Dooly Museum in Ssangmun-dong”
Since the story is set in Ssangmun-dong, you can find the Dooly Museum in this area. The museum sheds light on the significance and value of “Dooly the Little Dinosaur,” which was presented through various media such as comics, animation, and character merchandise. Visitors can experience an interactive character museum where they become the protagonists of the imaginary world alongside Dooly and his friends.
Near the museum, you can also find statues of Dooly and Heedongee, characters from the series. Since I was passing by late in the evening and couldn’t enter the museum, I captured a photo of the Dooly and Heedongee statues nearby.
