“Round One”, The Arcade Centre in Odaiba, Tokyo

Round One Corporation (Japanese: ラウンドワン, Hepburn: Raundo Wan) (Stylized as ROUND1) is a Japan-based amusement store chain. In Japan, the amusement centers offer bowling alleys, arcade games, karaoke, and billiards, they also have a larger variation of Round One known as SpoCha, abbreviated for Sports Challenge, that offers a variety of items and indoor/outdoor activities such as batting cages, basketball, volleyball, tennis, futsal, driving range, etc. Round One Entertainment Inc.

In Japan, you can find these arcades here and there, especially when you visit Akihabara, you can find a lot of Arcades.

Round 1 is also found on the 6th and 7th floors of DiverCity in Odaiba. You can find a variety of video games and claw crane games here. By the entrance, there was a game machine looking like the new DDR game. A lot of people were waning in line to play the game. I thought that it was the trendy game in Japan at that time.

“The Slot Machine Games”

The general atmosphere of the arcade centre seems not that different from the other arcades you can find in other countries. However, one things gave me a culture shock.

In the arcade, you can find slot machine and horse racing games that looks like gambling. It seems to be interesting that there was no restriction to play that.

Even I saw very young boys playing the gambling games in the arcade. It was quite unique scene for me.
